Student Teaching Week 3: Thinking of the Rest of This Week

Today, I gave the “checkup” test on circuits. I have graded about a third of them already, and the students really struggled. My first inclination was that I wrote a hard test, but I know that they can perform the the level that I ask them too. I only hope that next time around they realize how much I expect out of them. Several students did really well, which rests any fear that I am testing above their level.

It is the middle of the week, and my thoughts are not on how the week has gone at all (although, it has gone quite well I suppose). Instead, I find myself thinking of the skiing trip that we are going to take tomorrow… I am hoping that nothing horrible happens while I am the only adult around, and how I am going to manage things on Friday when I teach all day while the sub (who gets paid, while I pay to teach) gets to sit back and relax for the day.

I feel ready for it. These past few weeks have really matured my view of education, as well as my skills, abilities, and confidence. It won’t be long, and I will have taken over everything. I hope by then that I can learn some names in the shortened 5th hour class.

I hope that everything went well today with the all day teaching.Glad to also see that the skiing trip was a success. Watching/teaching people to ski or snowboard was a big part of my previous winters , and I miss it dearly. I wish I had the time and energy to do it this season.

    YAY Dan!
