Will Scuttle Become My New Del.ico.us?
Recently I found Scuttle, another social bookmarking tool, but one that is open source, installs on my website and most importantly, is free. I like the idea of sharing notable bookmarks with my peers, and with scuttle, it may come to fruition much more easily than I had thought before.
I still plan on using del.ico.us for my blog because it has that wonderful daily post integration. Scuttle though, can really take social bookmarking to a new level, allowing my friends and I to share a service; therefore bringing more targeted links to the board, and not forcing us to sift through as much as we would with a larger host such as del.icio.us.
scuttle + firefox = win
Scuttle (or del.icio.us, for that matter) integrates nicely into firefox’s live bookmark feature. My links show up automatically in my browser toolbar, which makes the service as accessible as local bookmarks. Not only is it easy to get at your feed through firefox, but it is also easy to add links via the new scuttle browser extension.
Will Scuttle Become My New Del.icio.us?
Short answer, no. Although, I am keeping both. Scuttle will be mine (and hopefully some of my buddies) link software, while del.icio.us will serve to keep my readership aware of interesting oddities, like the remaindered links of Kottke fame.
