After browsing the internet, I have grown to hate ads. I discovered the FireFox extension AdBlock, which will create filters to remove content from web pages. I decided to add my own filters as I ran into ads arount the web, and I figured it is time to offer them to the world.
You can download the Northlander AdBlock Filters 1.0 text file, and import it (under the options menu in adblock) to remove more ads from your browsing experience.
All the filters are is a simple text file with the following in it:
[Adblock]
http://*ads_new/*
http://*fastclick.net*
http://*.developershed.com/*
http://*.mediaplex.com/*
http://*.devshed.com/*
http://*casinopays.com*
http://*.chitika.net*
*atdmt.com*
http://ad.*
http://ads.*
http://*.googlesyndication.com*
*468×60.gif*
*ads.js*
*intellitxt.com*
*120×600*
*468×60*
*adjs.php*
class=”ad”
http://*adbrite*
*ads/*.gif
*banners/*.gif
*dbrotatingimage.asp*
I was surprised how few rules it took to remove almost every ad I ever saw on the internet. If I find many more, I will post an updated filter for you.
