After spotting this on Nick’s blog, I figured I’d give it a go (sans Gimp).

All the content above was randomly generated, according to this meme and slopped together using Photoshop. I can’t help but think that it really does look like it could be a real album.
To add my own twist, I decided to link to the first song I could find that was free… it ended up being pretty good too. Listen to it to complete the experience.
Working with such random content was sort of refreshing. It certainly let me spend some time focusing on getting the typography just the way I wanted it.

A friend just wrote a few words about how Facebook has utterly changed what war means to soldiers and citizens back home alike. Short and worth the read.

I can’t wait to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra when I am in Saint Paul. I’m just really upset about their camera policy:
Camera phones and disposable cameras are permitted. Audio recording and cameras with a detachable lens or lens of more than two inches are prohibited.
Ah well. The Blackberry camera phone will have to do.
Update: Now that I have seen the concert, it’s a good thing I didn’t borrow a point and shoot. Even camera phones weren’t allowed during the concert. Bleh.

Cool Tide Commercial. Reminds me of the effect those flashing ads have on how I view a website. Thank God Firefox has it’s own version of the Tide Stick for websites.

Life has been busy, and I need some motivation to finish up some quality posts… help me out by showing some support and de-lurking (posting a comment). Comments with post ideas will be keenly listened to.
Don’t worry, I’m still working on a good write-up of the new UM Admissions site mentioned earlier.

Starbucks seems to be off the deep end here, and slightly less offensively here.
If you think your coffee shouldn’t be saying that to the masses, take your words here or leave a comment.

It would seem that spammers are getting even more tricky. Today I noticed my first trackback spam.
I guess when I upgrade Wordpress and apply a new theme (long over due) I won’t allow trackbacks to be posted in the comments. Such a shame, spammers are really ruining the internet in every possible way.

Dear Google,
I use Gmail for Your Domain, and since the calendar function has finally been added, I am in love with this service. I do have a small request though, one that I believe many customers would like to utilize.
My suggestion is simple, integrate the calendar and email clients more fully; give me a checkbox when I set up an appointment to activate the email auto-responder during the time that I am scheduled for that event.
Thank you,
Dan Bowling

This year I graduate from Northland College. As I walk on May 27th I, along with many of my classmates, will be wearing a little green ribbon. This ribbon is worn by members of over 10 colleges around the US as an emblem of the following pledge:
“I pledge to explore and take into account the social and environmental consequences of any job I consider and will try to improve these aspects of any organizations for which I work.”
Going into this world as a professional from this point forward, I strongly consider my obligations to look at my actions in a holistic sense with a mind to social and environmental factors, among others. All too often do we look at the most near-sighted of goals with little respect to the varied levels of changes it makes in the daily lives of ourselves, our co-workers, and others.
I just realized that people who call themselves realists are simply pessimists that think they are optimists. It blew my mind.
On a side note, I would like to remind you that it is the non-conformist that conforms most rigorously to the rules of non-conformity.

I haven’t suffered the problems of finding career goals like many of my generation, I have known what my goals are for years, but as I approach my graduation date, I find myself wondering where I am going to work, and how I am going to achieve those goals. (more…)
